Indoor-Outdoor Flow
The original yard—remodeled nearly 20 years prior—was functional but dated, with cramped patio doors that created a bottleneck during gatherings. We began by proposing wide accordion-style sliders, setting the tone for the entire redesign. This opened up the connection to the outdoor deck, anchored by a sleek louvered pergola, and allowed the space to breathe.
Though compact in size, the yard lives large thanks to strategic elevation changes and distinct outdoor “rooms.” The custom kitchen and bar zone spans nearly 30 feet, outfitted with top-tier Hestan appliances and framed by a motorized pergola for day-to-night use. A porcelain-tiled entertainment wall with a weatherproof TV fronts the fire lounge, complete with wood-accented seating and a modern fire feature.
Lighting, Texture & Character
Rather than remove the large existing tree, we embraced it—framing it with a curved raised planter wall that adds character and maturity. Succulents and low-maintenance plants fill the perimeter beds, offering year-round color with minimal upkeep.
Lighting was a major design focus. Built-in LED strips glow from beneath capstones and deck steps, creating a subtle floating effect. Spotlights highlight the tree and architectural elements, while pergola and kitchen lighting ensures functionality after dark. The standout feature? A custom inlay of circular, flush-mounted paver lights, arranged to mimic a starry sky—a bold detail that transforms the space into something unforgettable at night.
A Space That Comes Alive
When the project was complete, our client hosted a grand opening party where the yard truly came to life. The raised deck doubled as a stage for live performances, while the outdoor kitchen and bar operated at full capacity with personal bartenders and catering. Guests moved effortlessly between zones, proving the success of the design’s layout and functionality.
This is a space that doesn’t just look good—it works hard, entertains well, and leaves a lasting impression long after the sun goes down.
